(2011-08-10) Riots Around London

There have been a number of riots around London England. Part of ongoing Credit Crisis 2008, Revolts Of 2011, or both? Commentators have attributed the causes of the riots to factors including high Poverty and UnEmployment, the growing gap between rich and poor, gang culture, and the lowest social mobility (Income Mobility) in the developed world.

"Two months ago we marched to Scotland Yard, more than 2,000 of us, all blacks, and it was peaceful and calm and you know what? Not a word in the press. Last night a bit of rioting and looting and look around you."

Another perspective: despite all the talk of this being a response to poverty, the looters are wearing designed tracksuits and communicating by IPhone-s.

The UK already has horrible Civil Rights policies, and this is making them worse.

Aug16 update: Two men who posted messages on Facebook inciting other people to riot in their home towns have both been sentenced to four years in prison by a judge at Chester crown court.
