(2012-06-15) Moving Iphoto To Older System
Fashion designers make/remake portfolio books containing page-layouts of drawings, trend-photos, etc.
A friend took some of The Wife's old "books" and scanned stuff into IPhoto.
Now I apparently have to upgrade our system to be able to use that material (on our IBook). Why?
Ah, it's because the friend made "books" - page layouts designed for nice printing. In earlier discussions we had been talking about using an IPad to show the work to people (future potential hirers), but that idea died - most people in the industry want paper.
- she's running Lion (10.7) (I thought The Wife said she was running Mountain Lion, but that's not even out yet...)
And of course Apple never lets you Export/SaveAs to an older version of a file....
IBook is currently running:
- MacOs X 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard)
- IPhoto 7.1.5 (378)
Starting out by doing fresh Back Up (of course it hadn't been running recently, probably because of old power outage).
I wonder whether sucking the new-version stuff into Aperture might be a path? (Requires buying Aperture for $80...)
Update: The Wife says she found out we don't want to upgrade to Mountain Lion, because apparently that would require a non-free upgrade of Mac-MsOffice.... (we're running the 2008 version, e.g. MsWord 12.0.1)
- I may be wrong about the MacOs X version she's talking about, since Mountain Lion isn't out yet. In theory MsOffice-2008 should work fine with Lion, though you can always find weird questions about any combo....
- update: she says someone's telling her that Lion and MsOffice-2008 are a problem together.
So this project is dead, she'll end up re-doing layouts herself.
