(2012-08-28) Diaspora Founders Move On To Makr
A couple weeks ago Diaspora's founders announced their new project MakR, which they're developing under Y-Combinator. The site is quite simple — basically, users can overlay captions in various fonts onto photos. Then other users can take them apart, modify and repost them. It has a lot in common with 4chan founder Christopher Poole’s company Canvas.
Now they've officially released control of Diaspora to "the community". We’ve opened up our Pivotal Tracker for community developers help join in (You can sign up here), we’ve launched a tool that deploys one-click installations to the Heroku app hosting service, and we’ve updated http://joindiaspora.com to be more community-centric, showcasing other pods a user can join.
