(2026-06-11) Removing a ceiling light fixture so a medallion can be mounted

I'm removing a ceiling light fixture so a medallion can be mounted. Because otherwise the electrician has nothing to do while waiting for paint/glue to dry.

First: detach fixture from ceiling

• I thought I had found the right fixture, and all the instructions online said I had to turn the entire fixture counterclockwise to remove it. But I couldn't budge it.
• Then by accident I discovered that the center translucent piece would unscrew and drop out, exposing set screws.
• which gave me QR code telling me it's this

But obviously the medallion hole is smaller than the light fixture. So I'll have to disconnect the wires.

• being a scaredy cat, I'm going to shut off the circuit.
