FeatherPub

Author: Hrefna. FeatherPub is a dialect of ActivityPub that I am toying with creating for a personal project.

I decided to separate it and name it because in several cases I am breaking compatibility with “ActivityPub” as a whole, focusing instead on making it easy for others to interoperate with it should they choose. I want to make it so that it will mostly be understood by extant ActivityPub services as they are built and used in production environments, even if it does not ultimately support all aspects of the protocol, and even if it may take some work to get there. Basically focusing on interoperability and performance, rather than completeness and integration with semantic web protocols and tooling.

To do this I wanted to see some of the major services that have overlapping functionality and what parts of the protocol they have decided to implement. No one implements all of ActivityPub, and it’s obvious that some parts of it are better explored or more consistently implemented than others.
