Foam Sofa Bed

Number Three is a "roller" in her sleep, so we want something big and close to the ground.

We've been using a futon. But it looks like I bought crummy quality, so

• it won't really fold into thirds, and folding in half eats up lots of floorspace

• it's quite lumpy

So looking for cheap double-size Foam Sofa Bed. I know we had something like this a long time ago, which of course eventually needed to be dumped.

But now it's hard to find something cheap that isn't just twin-width. I bought something that size, and it's useless for sleeping.

• if I return it, they charge me $20 for their initial free-shipping.

• UPS quotes me $127 to ship it

• USPS Parcel Post quote is $120

• Fed Ex ground quote is $61

• I called up All Childrens Furniture where I had bought the bed, and they issued me a prepaid Fed Ex return slip, so I could pay their rate, and I dropped it off at the local Fed Ex/KinKos. Excellent Customer Service.

Now going to try this mat approach.

• there's a long lite/soft fabric holder with 3 pockets to hold the mats. There's so much loose fabric between the pockets that you end up with 4in of space between each mat, if your floor is slippery, or you move around too much over the course of time. We took the zip-around holder that we bought for the futon and put it around this. It makes it a little bit toucher to fold up, but it works fine, and keeps everything together.
