Undo is an interaction technique which is implemented in many computer programs. It erases the last change done to the document, reverting it to an older state. In some more advanced programs, such as graphic processing, undo will negate the last command done to the file being edited. With the possibility of undo, users can explore and work without fear of making mistakes, because they can easily be undone.

Replit (rep·lit), formerly, is a San Francisco-based start-up and an online IDE (integrated development environment).[3] Its name comes from the acronym REPL, which stands for "read–evaluate–print loop". Amjad Masad, Faris Masad, and Haya Odeh co-founded the company in 2016... In 2009, Masad tried to write every programming language in JavaScript, but it was not practical. He saw great leaps in browser and web technologies and he was inspired by Google Docs web capabilities. He thought of the idea of being able to write code in a browser and make it easy to share it. He spent two years creating an open-source product with Haya Odeh called "JSRepl".[9] This product allowed him to compile languages into JavaScript. This product powered Udacity and Codecademy's tutorials. After becoming an early employee of Codecademy, this project was put off until years later, when he and Odeh decided to revive the project of a programming environment in a browser. (more)

This is a copy of an email I just received from Number Two Son's fifth-grade (Elementary School) teacher - this is Barrington Il's Public School TAG program. I think it captures the awesomeness of the Self Contained program there... (see also 2009-10-15-BarringtonTag) (more)

Cory Doctorow reviews Douglas Coupland's new J Pod novel. In J Pod, the little brothers and sisters of Generation X slave away at a thinly-disguised EA Games in Vancouver, where marketdroids reward their slavish labor by heaping menial tasks on them, and perverting the games they make so that they're not even cool. None of these people will be a software millionaire. They are people who work sweatshop hours for lousy wages, burn out young, and go nowhere. They use Google and EBay to scour the globe for anything to make their lives Meaningful. They don't find it.

Suicide is the act of intentionally causing one's own death.[6] Mental disorders, including depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, personality disorders, and substance abuse—including alcoholism and the use of benzodiazepines—are risk factors.[2][4][7] Some suicides are impulsive acts due to stress, such as from financial difficulties, troubles with relationships, or bullying.[2][8] Those who have previously attempted suicide are at a higher risk for future attempts.[2] Effective suicide prevention efforts include limiting access to methods of suicide—such as firearms, drugs, and poisons; treating mental disorders and substance misuse; proper media reporting of suicide; and improving economic conditions.[2][9] Even though crisis hotlines are common, there is little evidence for their effectiveness. In doing Agile Product Development, there can be a tension between a "top-down" (I don't mean exec-driven, I mean mental-stack) Product Vision/Product Strategy/Conceptual Integrity and an incremental/iterative process of Thinking In Bets. (more)
