Great Formula
The great formula for creating maximum profit with minimal effort by Mark Joyner
Partial Excerpts (antilibrary)
Chapter 1: Introduction
What if there were such a formula for business success?
Such a formula does exist, and it’s called The Great Formula.
If this formula is so simple and so powerful, why doesn’t every business use it?
Chapter 2: “I Get 1,000 Channels of TV and Most of It’s Crap”

infinite number of monkeys
joke that “The advent of the blog has proven Borel wrong.”
Just how quickly is the world body of information growing?
The vast majority of new information available today is just plain rubbish
So, how do business owners cope with this?
A new way of handling information is needed
Chapter 3: Chunking
Chapter 4: The Great Chunkula
So many of our best people are lost
So many of the good ones don’t know what they’re doing with their lives
this chunking process doesn’t affect just our rote memory—it also affects our behavior.
In a sense, a rule is a chunking method that allows you to prechunk situations and react to them accordingly
There is a burgeoning cottage industry in the art of the pick-up.
Here, people like Neil Strauss, author of The Game
take dating-inept men and teach them how to be pick-up artists.
One of the rules they teach their young would-be pick-up artists is the rule of the sht test.*
They feel as if life just sort of happened to them
the pick-up artists think of these tests as positive things. If the woman was really not interested in you, she wouldn’t be testing you. They theorize that these are tests of your social value, and how well you respond will determine your worthiness as a suitor.
Instead, you know exactly how to analyze the situation. It doesn’t matter how many combinations of cars and drivers you encounter. None of that matters, thanks to the rule.
Your brain is filled with a relatively small number of rules that use prechunking to allow you to respond to an infinite number of potential situations
What if you had a set of rules that would allow you to prechunk every single bit of business advice you ever got?
What if you knew instantly how to categorize it for easy reference in your mind?
That tool exists, and it’s called . . .
go back to when you were three, figure out what you loved doing, figure out how to make that your life, then make the road map and follow it
That doesn’t mean you get narrower with your vision, just more specific. The picture gets sharper
My plan took shape around bodybuilding, after the first clear picture of my future snapped into focus.
this part can be very difficult for people, even those with the broadest of visions.
Bodybuilding is all about zooming in. Not just on the specifics of what you want to achieve as a bodybuilder, but also on the steps you need to take in the gym to get there
Create Space and Time
Only you can create the life you want for yourself—no one is going to do it for you. If you don’t know what that life looks like yet, for whatever reason, that’s fine. We’re here now. The choices you make from here on out are what matters. And right now, there are two things you should do.
First, create little goals for yourself. Don’t worry about the big, broad stuff for now. Focus on making improvements and banking achievements one day at a time
Once you’ve developed a rhythm with those little daily goals, create weekly and then monthly goals. Instead of zooming in from a broad place, build out your life from this small beginning and let your vision open up in front of you from there
As it does, and the sense of uselessness starts to loosen its grip, that’s when you take the second step: put the machines away and create space and time in your life, however small or short in the beginning, for inspiration to find its way in and for the discovery process to happen
a walk in the park. Which it literally could be. Many of history’s greatest thinkers, leaders, scientists, artists, and entrepreneurs found some of their greatest inspiration going for walks
the power of creating time and space in their everyday lives to take a walk
It’s that way with bicycling too. No one can bother you on a bike, so you’re free to let your thoughts go wherever they go. These days, I create space for inspiration by taking a Jacuzzi every night
Sitting in the Jacuzzi is where I got the idea for my speech to the American people after the events of January 6, 2021.
I slowly came to the conclusion that what we all watched that day wasn’t the exercise of political speech, it wasn’t an attempt to refresh the tree of liberty with the blood of patriots and tyrants, as Thomas Jefferson might say . . . it was a cry for help. And I wanted to help them.
That Sunday, I gave a speech on my Instagram feed in the hope that, by talking directly to the people who were hurting the most, I could help them and maybe they could heal.
I called the speech “A Servant’s Heart,”
A “servant’s heart” also described the vision I was starting to develop for how to utilize my social media presence as a way to help as many people as possible
It was the evolution of a twenty-year vision of public service into a new fourth act
Really See It
Chapter 5: The Great Formula
C H A P T E R 5 The Great Formula
The Great Formula
- Step 1: Create The Irresistible Offer (TIO)
- Step 2: Present it to a Thirsty Crowd.
- Step 3: Sell them a Second Glass
If you look at the greatest business successes in the history of the world, you will find that nearly every one of them follows this formula to the letter.
Some got Step 1 right to a greater or lesser degree, but without exception they all excelled at Steps 2 and 3.
Chapter 6: Why The Great Formula Works
There are three, and only three, ways to increase the revenue of any business endeavor:
- Get your message in front of more eyeballs.
- Get more money per eyeball.
- Sell more products to your existing customers on the back end.
If these are the only three ways to increase the revenue of a business, why is it that most business owners spend about 95 percent of their time on things that don’t fall into those three categories?
your logistical and administrative functions should all be subordinate to your work with The Great Formula
Chapter 7: The Great Formula Step 1: Create The Irresistible Offer
Since this is the sequel to a book that talked about The Irresistible Offer in depth, there is no need to rehash all of the details here.
The Irresistible Offer is an identity-building offer central to a product, service, or company where the believable return on investment is communicated so clearly and ef-ficiently that it’s immediately apparent you’d have to be a fool to pass it up.
Sell your customer on your products and services in three seconds or less by immediately answering the Big Four Questions:
- 1. What are you trying to sell me?
- 2. What is the cost?
- 3. Why should I believe you?
- 4. What’s in it for me?
