Each purchase from this catalog represents a contribution to the entire mission of Heifer International. Donations will be used where needed most to help struggling people. [Heifer International] is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization.
Their 2006 annual report says that during 2001-2010 they will help "1 million more families move dramatically closer to self-reliance through livestock and extensive training and Heifer's unique practice of "passing on the gift"". (They identify lots of other direct-training and indirectly-benefitting families.)
their 2006 income was $100M.
if their 10-yr income is 10x that, then that's $1B to help 1M families. So that's $1000/family.
