I went to high school with him. He was a year ahead but the geek squad tended to cross years a bit.

Was actually on the Yale football team as placekicker until he decided it was eating into his piano practice time...

There was a nice chapter about him in a Microsoft Press book about programmers. "Programmers at Work" maybe?

Wow, I didn't know he won the Van Cliburn competition in 2002.
