Ruth Malan

My consulting work as a Principal Consultant at Bredemeyer Consulting, ranges from business and engineering strategy, to system design including design incubator work in early stages, to architecture assessment and renewal for legacy systems. We coach architects and design teams, help document product and architecture design for teams moving through rapid transitions, facilitate technology strategy and/or architectural design sessions and reviews, and more. We also help design design (e.g., design practices, organization design to support complex system development) and we help design technical leadership and architect development programs, with a combination of training and mentoring. We draw on substantive experience working with engineering leaders as they have taken on various complex system and leadership challenges. We also draw on significant work in our field, including Team Topologies; various strategy approaches such as Wardley Maps, and canvases; value streams and value network mapping; stressor impact mapping; DDD and its related innovations such as EventStorming and Domain Storytelling; UML and C4; work in resilience engineering and observability; and more. And we integrate work in system thinking, complex systems, and sociotechnical systems theory.
