Tres Seaver introduced the idea of [sprints](http://dev.zope.org/Wikis/Dev Site/Projects/Component Architecture/Sprint Schedule) to the Zope v3 development process. That's been expanded into a series of public-participation sprints at various locations around the world. A cool combination of Open Source development acceleration, training, and sponsorship. Darn I missed the NYC event (not that I would have been qualified).
