(2005-02-24) Williams Pharmco Reps

LisaWilliams on PharmCo SalesReps. These girls were "detail reps," traveling salespeople who visit doctor's offices to get the latest drugs in front of the doctors, leaving behind many free samples. I often wonder, why do the doctors agree to make appointments with them, these beautiful girls and their Powerpoints that use "impact" as a verb? Petty, I know, but it took a lot of restraint for me not to say to them, girls, if you're going to push up the cost of HealthCare, at least use proper grammar... I looked at them, and thought, This is temporary. The shifting glacier of healthcare will go over a rock and a big shelf of ice will clatter into the sea, and there will be no detail rep jobs, and no beautiful girls filling them. They and their secondary market of dry cleaning and Department Store cosmetics counters will simply have to find a new source of revenue. I think they'll have to do that a lot - jumping from one temporary accommodation to the next. I have faith in the beautiful girls, though. They're much tougher than they look, I think.
