(2005-03-21) Pcforum Global Operations
PcForum session on Operating Globally (Globalization). Andy Stern should have been in this session :) It's interesting how truly localized this business sound like they're trying to be: create whole Product Development organizations where the biggest initial market is (e.g. Cell Phone software in Asia), so that you're targeting that properly. But didn't deal with how to handle more than 1 country per product area - how much do you keep in common, how much do you fork?
Esther asked interesting question as to whether doing a couple years in a foreign operation disconnects you from the HQ Social Network.
Lots of Think Pad users in the audience (concerned about IBM/Lenovo deal). Not a great sign...
