(2007-03-31) Doctorow Reading On Screen
Cory Doctorow thinks we're perfectly happy to read on screens, we just don't want to read the long-form Novel (EBook) there, because on-screen reading is more interrupt-driven (Continuous Partial Attention). A commenter notes that CharlesDickens and other writers published plenty of books in installments. (Also note that some people see the NetBook-weaknesses of the Kindle as a strength for this reason - it won't let them do other things.)
Sept update: he sees the EBook as a promotional (Marketing) device that sells more Printed Book-s.
