(2007-09-26) Kyl Lieberman Iran Amendment

The Defense Authorization Bill For 2008 included the Kyl Lieberman Amendment which smells equivalent to the vote giving George W Bush to start the War On Iraq, this time for Iran.

The Open Society Policy Center opposed the idea.

It passed with a Roll Call vote.

• John McCain and Barack Obama were Not Voting!

• in favor: Hillary Clinton, Chuck Schumer. Dianne Feinstein, Harry Reid, and others (76 total)

• against: Barbara Boxer, Joe Biden, Chuck Hagel, Tom Harkin, and others (22 total)

But at least one Republican, John McCain - who, earlier this year, took some heat for singing about bombing Iran to the tune of "Barbara Ann" - now says the talk is getting a little too heated. "It's unacceptable for Iran to have a nuclear weapon, but we never want to threaten things that we're not prepared to carry out," McCain told ABC News.
