(2008-04-23) Whole Foods Bags

Whole Foods announced in January they were going to be ditching plastic bags.

As of yesterday (Earth Day), that hit the NYC Union Square location.

I use grocery store plastic bags for Garbage.

Paper bags are not good for this

  • kitchen garbage is often wet, and you want to be able to close it up before dumping down the chute.

  • in other rooms, the little cans are too small for grocery bags.

I can't believe this situation is unique to me, or even NYC dwellers. Doesn't this hit any high-rise/apartment dweller?

(Whole Foods isn't my primary grocer, so maybe I'm not the right market for this. It certainly seems like most of their customers are in the Express line, while my normal Food Emporium runs goes well over $100, even when I'm not buying meat.)
