(2008-10-17) N810 Diablo Upgrade

I hoped that Upgrading N810 to Diablo would make it easier to get Python working.

Argh, it looks like Pimlico apps don't work under Diablo still! N810 As PIM

• here's a note from Ross Burton, one of the Pimlico guys from when Chinook first came out; here's where he got it done.

  • I asked him about Diablo support.

And it even seems like the Lock button doesn't work! It says it's locking, but then immediately the screen says "screen and keyboard active" again.

• that problem seems to have gone away.

• downgrade to Chinook until Pimlico updated

• focus on getting Python working on Diablo, move toward Wiki As PIM

  • the alarms in Dates have always generated lots of false alerts, so maybe wouldn't be giving up much...

    • or maybe I'll find a simpler Calendar app? This is the one case where Fat Client benefits exist.

  • would be throwing away all recent data, and have to re-generate Address Book from old Sharp Zaurus dumps

• go further, just do Text File As PIM. (Same issues as above.)

  • hmm, leaning toward this for Address Book and To-Do List, using Fat Client Calendar.

Oh, lord I'm such a moron. I had rejected the Pimlico apps, and used GPE!

• all the GPE pieces reinstalled nicely and used existing data

• now do I switch To-Do List to Text File As PIM? Not sure...
