(2009-04-01) Pilgrim Write Book In Html Not Xml
Mark Pilgrim has dropped DocBook XML to just write his book in HTML. AFAIK, publishing to paper (Printed Book) is about the same as it was in 2004. I take my HTML and import it into MsWord, where the copyeditor complains that my Word document doesn't use to proper styles. I backport all the changes I care about back to my original HTML (previously DocBook XML) on my own time. In the final proofing phases, everything is done in PDF with Adobe's editing tools. Again, any changes I care to backport are backported. In this regard, DocBook vs. HTML makes no difference whatsoever. Nobody else in the "biz" uses either.
He does his editing in EMacs!
Some commenters think that using SmartAscii is even better. Mark hasn't responded to that idea yet.
