(2009-05-20) Dvr Schmutz

Time Warner Cable (TV and Cable Modem) went out for a few hours today.

This evening we were watching TV, and suddenly noticed that everything that we had recorded but not erased since January was missing from the DVR! Earlier shows were still there. Further, the Series Manager seemed to be back at the list of shows from January.

We called. The tech has me reboot the box. I did, with no change. He said to try again in an hour, and if it didn't work, to call back. I waited, tried, it failed, so I called back.

The tech said that a guy coming onsite would be able to restore the missing shows/programming. "It's still there, the list just can't find it."

But he couldn't come until Saturday. But I could try calling earlier to check for cancellations. So I called back Thurs morning, and got a Friday-afternoon visit.

Friday update:

• the guy came, said "no, you can't get that stuff back, it's erased", and left.

• I called in, and the guy on the phone agreed "no you can't get that stuff back".
