(2009-08-31) Water Filters
Apparently it's common in parts of Barrington Il to use Well-Water and Septic Tank-s, rather than being on "city" plumbing.
- So of course there aren't Storm Sewer-s either, just Storm Water drainage ditches that lead to a Storm Drainage Pond. There seem to be a lot of those around here, or else we're just close to the Water Table and having lots of swamps!
When we had our house inspections (after going to contract), we discovered the water was really stinky. Enough that you keep thinking that someone didn't flush a toilet or something.
Ah, sulphur (Hydrogen Sulfide).
And when we filled the big tub, the water was really rather black-ish. And when we turned on the jets, it instantly made a nasty ring. Ah, Iron Bacteria.
(There's always a Well inspection before closing, where you are told there's nothing dangerous in the water.)
So we just had Culligan install a SulfurCleer system that handles both. Some kind of pressurized activated-charcoal Water Filter.
