(2009-11-03) Twitter Peak

The Peek is a dedicated Mobile data device. The original version only did EMail for $15/mo (over T-Mobile's network). Now they have a version that does only Twitter (not EMail or Instant Messaging or FaceBook) for $8/mo.

Dave Winer tried the non-Twitter version (for a relative). It is simple, but the Text Messaging feature is a hack on top of email, and they put ads for their service in the text messages, and texting is more or less one-way, and it's the wrong way for my application. It's easy for the Peek user to send text messages but virtually impossible for them to receive them.
