(2009-11-18) Unusual Epub Designs

I wonder how radical anyone has gotten in the format/structure/style of something delivered as EPub?

What if they tried to let EPub include JavaScript along with the XHTML and CSS?

Hmm, this says Even though scripting is included in the ePub specification the majority of readers for ePub eBooks have little or no support for it.

In Jan'2008 there was no support for scripting, but it was noted as a need for the future... The final OPS-v2.0 spec says Reading Systems must not, by default, render the textual content of the script element, and should not execute the script itself. The content must be readable without execution of script elements.

What if you, today, despite the spec:

• included JavaScript in your EPub packaging

• used a Web Browser plugin as your EPub reader?
