(2010-10-12) Check Deposit Via Digicam

I think it's interesting how quickly the idea of depositing a check by uploading a picture of it (taken with your Smart Phone Digital Camera) has been executed by Retail Bank-s.

• I first read about this 6mo(?) ago at BankSimple - a nice idea to Route Around not having a branch system

• then a noticed a sign couple months ago at my local J P Morgan Chase branch that they had the feature too.

• now I see PayPal getting into the same game. USAA was the first in August 2009, but that bank has a single branch, 8m customers, and largely serves military personnel who are frequently on deployment.

(I wonder how fast duplicate deposits get caught...)
