Changing Email Addresses

I have a DayJob EMail address.

I have a personal address at my own domain which I don't publish online in hopes of limiting spam.

I have other personal addresses which I use more publicly. These include

• Yahoo Mail

• GMail

• others?

Yahoo Mail has been my primary public address for years, but the SpamWars have driven me nuts. I don't understand why they can't even block lottery offers.

So I'm going to switch to my GMail address, at least a bit.

Steps so far

• I put the "new" address in the footer of these pages. And I used the crummy non-linking human-interpreted version, even though I suspect most scrapers handle that already.

Future steps

• use new address with any purchases I make

  • do I worry about the old msgs I have? Probably not, though maybe I'll make a crummy attempt to sweep them into a subfolder for easier future ref

    • I even have Yahoo MailPlus, which gives me POP access, but since that can't get to the subfolders, it doesn't do me any good at all.

• notify the couple services I have "real" memberships with.

• probably completely stop getting emails from the lists which I don't stay active on.

  • maybe convert 1-2 to RSS feeds

  • or maybe move them into GMail to take advantage of the threading model
