In NYC (in 2004): 41% use the SubWay, 24% drive (Automobile) alone, 12% take the City Bus, 10% Walking to work, 2% travel by Commuter Train, 5% Car Pool, 1% use a Taxi, 0.6% ride their Bicycle to work, and 0.2% travel by ferry.

Nationally (2008-2012): Bicyclists still account for fewer than 1% of all commuters... The combined rate of bicycle commuting for the 50 largest U.S. cities increased from 0.6 percent in 2000 to 1.0 percent in 2008–2012... compared to 0.4 percent for suburban workers or those who lived outside of a metropolitan area. All of the work done in NYC resulted in the rate going from 0.5% to 0.8%. San Francisco went from 2.0 to 3.4%. Portland went from 1.8 to 6.1%, the highest rate of any medium-to-large city.
