9-floor academic building at 6thSt/3rdAve designed by [Thom Mayne]
20-floor office building (biomedical research?), which will require demolishing the existing 10-story Engineering Building which is already there
20-floor residential (not for students, for income) building replacing parking lot
was going to be an [Ian Schrager] hotel designed by Rem Koolhaas
When Cooper's Foundation Building was constructed in 1858 it was the tallest building in New York City. Although elevators had not yet been invented, Peter Cooper predicted their arrival, and included round elevator shafts in the building.
Abraham Lincoln spoke there in 1860.
