The Windows Operating System.
Potentially commoditized by net-driven applications, where cross-platform compatibility becomes a requirement.
Applications I run on Ms Windows (office DeskTop):
MozIlla for browsing and EMail (and Chat Zilla for IRC, though sometimes Trill Ian for that))
would switch to Thunderbird and Firefox, but trying to get some people off of Ms Outlook and MsIE, and think a single new app seems less scary to them...
[Active State] [Python Win] for PyThon editing (don't use debugging tools, but need folding outline, auto-indent, highlighting/auto-color, etc.
GAim for Instant Messaging/JabBer
does it do IRC?
Palm Desktop to synch my Handspring Treo; [ISilo] to grab web pages to read offline
[WinSCP] for SCP, [PuTTY] for SSH, Tortoise C V S for CVS GUI
[PgAdmin] for Postgre S Q L mgmt (though mostly I just use psql via SSH)
Ms Office, occasionally trying Open Office; would love better Out Lining
[E Mind Maps] for Mind Mapping
local ZoPe server
for testing things that will go on a real server
to run local personal data (if hosted server won't handle the volume, which is sad - is it ZoPe's fault or the host?)
