What could the benefit be?

• create better User Interface than the TelCo-s

• add/integrate functions that the TelCo-s won't support

• use P2P Mesh Network approach? 2005-06-09-OpenCellphone

  • why?

    • because sometimes is TelCo Infrastructure is over-loaded or broken (e.g. Hurricane Katrina)

    • to try and Route Around the TelCo pricing, at least enough to possibly create a little competition

      • Bob Frankston: If we simply had 802.11 (WiFi) coverage connected to an abundant backbone the cellular industry would instantly cease to exist because it creates no value.

  • is this realistic?

  • does VoIP Over WiFi get you close to that?
