Author of The Great Good Place, which documents public spaces (the Third Place) (beer houses, coffee houses, parks, etc.). Very good book. Fascinating history of the old beer houses of NYC (indoor/outdoor, taking up an entire city block, where you could get a hot meal for a pittance and hear live music, etc.).
