(2003-03-26) Emp In Iraq
Did we use an EMP bomb in the War On Iraq or not?
On the drive home from work on Tueday, March 25, I heard that we did. The guy I carpooled with and I heard it announced on Chicago's WBBM AM twice on the way home. All that was mentioned was that the unit was (paraphrasing) experimental, and took out Iraqi TV broadcasting for a few hours, and then the station resumed operations. I believe we conventionally bombed the station later. Fascinating!
- At the moment I don't believe this. I think that an EMP bomb would require complete replacement of most of the equipment - so a relatively short outage argues against that. --BillSeitz
