Excellent Economist article on the history of wheat (Agriculture), and inventions that prevented mass starvation, making Thomas Malthus wrong over and over: geographic discovery/expansion, the tractor, guano fertilizer, nitrogen factories, cross-breeding, Norman Borlaug, and ultimately the slowing of Population Growth. Is that Technological Determinism?
