(2007-06-01) Doing Sfa Via Issue Tracker Wiki

At Living Independently we're actually doing SfaViaIssue TrackerWiki now (for retail sales).

SalesforceCom was out of the question, between complexity and price (I could maybe live with $75/month if there wasn't a 12-month contract).

I considered High-Rise, but the lack of a basic lead-listing functions (by owner, by status, by last-action-date, by next-action-date) made it useless for us. Tasks have dates and people, but not leads/contacts.

So we made a new Zwiki space with the integrated Issue Tracker, and I abused some of the built-in category fields to fit our needs. Ticket=lead.

We'll see how it goes.

Update: went with SalesforceCom to try and increase adoption, plus our Lead-Gen vendor built a custom app that inserted leads into SalesforceCom via API.

Update: surprised at poor reliability of SalesforceCom: need Message Bus to handle errors.
