Alan Patrick on the true costs of Free Stuff. Whuffie, Social Networking, Open Source, Crowd Sourcing, Commons, Enclosure. So my contentious contention is this - Open Source software creation is the "edge" of the Edge Economy (Network Economy), but it is marginal economics - ie it is driven by people operating at way below Sustainable economic cost if they wish to eat, live and reproduce.
