(2010-09-15) Dougherty Learning Event Directory Smart Grid

Dale Dougherty thinks we need open/public online directories of F2F Learning opportunities (classes, hackdays, etc.).

Isn't this already pretty well handled by a combo of

public Event Calendar sites
Jon Udell's Elm City work - 2010-11-17-UdellRecentWorkAndPatterns?

I know the Barrington Il-area Public Library has a bunch of events, so I looked at its Event Calendar. Sigh, RSS feed with no structure. (Their site uses Evanced.) And none of its events show up on Event Ful. But the nearby Lake Zurich Public Library's events do. And their site also uses Evanced and just has a straight RSS feed. Maybe Barrington isn't using a feature?
