(2010-09-26) Book Server Experiments
Thinking it would be fun to convert some EBook-s into websites to experiment with Book Server idea.
Would need something in Public Domain or Creative Commons, etc.
Ideally would like something already available in EPub or X/HTML, rather than having to massage PDF conversion...
Non-Fiction: (would like something with sections, some images/diagrams, etc.)
-
Douglas Rushkoff: Program Or Be Programmed - can't make it public (though I should ask him), but at least it's native-DRM-free-EPub
-
Cory Doctorow: Content (good for traffic because of his name? but they're generally old things you could find online for free anyway)
-
Democratizing Innovation 2005-07-10-HippelDemocratizingInnovationFree - old, not terribly exciting or visual

Tried/failed:
-
Quest To Learn http://mitpress.mit.edu/catalog/item/default.asp?ttype=2&tid=12435 - huh, CaLibre fails to convert PDF to EPub.
-
Future Of Thinking http://mitpress.mit.edu/catalog/item/default.asp?tid=12181&ttype=2 - CaLibre converted, but has everything double-spaced (every printed-line has paragraph tags - eliminating these while not wiping out the legitimate paragraph breaks could be tricky).
Fiction: Cory Doctorow, Charlie Stross, Rainbows End
