I was surprised that Command Line CVS wasn't pre-loaded in MacOsX. I had to download [XTools]. Even then an update didn't seem to work.

gads, I think I'm going to try EMacs and see how much stuff is just easier to run from inside there! EMacs:EmacsForMacOS
found a [Mac Slash] thread which mentions some stuff I may try later...
was going to grab [Cvs Finder] for CVS, but smells rather abandoned (v0.1 from Oct'2003). And don't find any mention in UseNet!
[Mac C V S Pro]? http://sourceforge.net/projects/maccvspro/ no update since it was first moved there in Mar'2003.
[MacCVS]? last Mac version was an alpha in Mar'2003, last "stable" version was Mar'2001!
going to try [SenTe] [CVL] http://www.sente.ch/software/cvl/
always getting a timeout when I try to set up the Repository. Hmm, maybe there are extra steps I'm skipping that are necessary when you use the ext variant of CVS. Looks like I need [Ssh Pass Key] - argh that whole directory seems to have disappeared from [CodeFab].
oy this smells like a rats-nest involving SSH (though that message is from Mar2002 so maybe it's not such a big issue now)
something about general CVS Command Line stuff, including running over SSH; another piece
I made an environment.plist file per this and this and this to hold CVS-related values
though this smells like it locks you into a single CVS server, which may be [OK] for me right now but smells overly-restrictive
Jan27: hey at least now I can do Command Line checkout. Though I dumped the checkouts I'd brought over from my old machine, as there were some files in there I'd created locally and didn't want checked in, so the new checkout was complaining.
when try to add Repository in [CVL]
get "host key verification failed" message. Do Terminal login to same server, which saves key to my machine. Try again...
get "reverse mapping checking getaddrinfo... failed" message. Try changing definition of server to be by [IP] rather than hostname. Still no go. Posted help request.
update (Apr'2005): thought maybe typo in our servers' reverse-DNS entries might be a factor. But that's been corrected, and [CVL] still won't work.
