Video Digitizing
Having archives from your Video Camera converted into digital files.
end-2018
Sent the old physical stuff to DigMyPics, got back 200GB of file via mailed 1TB drive
My 2011 experience - did nothing
Needs
- inputs:
- outputs
- on external Hard Drive - 2011-06-11-TimeCapsuleGettingFull
- on DVD to play on TV? or just computer files on DVD as offsite Back Up?
DigMyPics, who did my previous Negative Scanning batch, has a service. But if I want computer files, I need to send them a Hard Drive to put the files on, plus they charge $20 for each 20min tape!
Hmm, I've seen a number of positive reviews for the Elgato products like their Video Capture tool. For the relatively small number of pieces I have, maybe that makes more sense.
- the Panasonic camera that makes the Vhs C looks like it has a single ancient "AV out" port. Will need to look for docs/cable for more details
- found docs online, and cable that has that single connector on 1 end, and has yellow and white audio and video plugs (1 each) on the other end
- Oct17 - ordered the Elgato.
- Oct18 - ordered 2 more 2TB IOmega Mini Max drives per 2011-06-11-TimeCapsuleGettingFull
- the Canon Mini Dvd camera has a mini-USB port/cable. Of course it's optimized for PC use, but will try just plugging it in to see what happens...
(If this doesn't work, found semi-local place. http://www.universalvideoconversions.net/ )
