Paolo Valdemarin on the Organization Models he calls "P2P Companies". Potentially, anybody in such a group could find and manage a customer, but at the same time anybody could work for some other member's project. And some good commentary by Terry Frazier. A P2P company offers leverage, but no security - you are still largely a Free Agent, but now with the opportunity to benefit from the labor of others... These are substantial challenges, but then we get to the hard part - the vast majority of talented people on the streets today don't know anything about collaborative technologies (Collaboration Ware).

Paolo also pointed to John Hagel's blog entry on Loosely Coupled systems. Rather than traditional hierarchies driven by Command And Control management styles, we are likely to see relatively independent organizational modules brought together to perform one set of processes and then different arrangements of modules to perform other processes.
