(2009-08-17) Random Thoughts Moving From Nyc To Chicago
Just some random bits before Moving To Chicago....
What will I miss?
-
Pedestrian-driven, high-density/high-energy environment. Being able to sit on the bench outside the building and watch people go by. Every errand has street-theatre.
-
Being able to walk down the block and work in StarBucks for hours. Or take the kids for an ice cream cone.
-
If the Astor Place Barnes And Noble hadn't closed, I would really miss that. I'll miss the free-same-day delivery service.
-
Geek-density for grabbing coffee/drinks, going to events, etc. without having an hour trip home afterwards.
What won't I miss?
-
Paying for Private School.
-
Paying maintenance.
I wish I'd had time to do some last-change-before-you-leave stuff
-
typical tourist stuff that locals never do: top of Empire State Building for The Boys
-
take The Boys to Frank Lloyd Wright exhibit at the Guggen Heim
-
go to Brooklyn Ny to SuperheroSupplies and the remaining Miracle Grill for Catfish Taco.
Thank FSM that Jihi's relocation package covers movers who pack. Because if I had to pack up all this stuff I'd snap.
Tight deadlines keep you from thinking. In cases like this, that's a good thing.
