(2010-08-26) Barrington C3 One To One Laptop Program
Each of the 2 Barrington Il Middle School-s is picking a 7th-grade class to use for a One To One Lap Top pilot. It's their 21st century learning initiative C3 (Create, Collaborate, Communicate) (Educational Technology). Number One Son's class got picked!
The letter I've received says it's an "HP mini Lap Top". I think that means NetBook.
Number One Son says they told him it runs LinuxOS, but he hasn't actually touched it yet.
He says it won't come with a case/handle, which concerns me because they're not allowed to carry their BackPack around! We'll see....
They don't get to bring it home.
They'll be working with WebLog-s and Wiki-s. (But not WikiLog-s.)
Internet filtering will be in place.
(Nobody is allowed to bring their Mobile to class, ever.)
