(2013-03-17) Gatekeepers Controlling Your Inbox Stream
Dave Winer points out that as Google moves people from Google Reader to Google Plus and Google Now, they, like FaceBook (Edge Rank) and Twitter (who so far is just nudging newbies toward brands/celebrities but not yet filtering/prioritizing) will be in the business of prioritizing your Universal Inbox, rather than giving you control. (This makes the default setup easier on the normal person, but for someone willing to explicitly manage their inflow it will be harder if not impossible to do so.)
He points out that Media-business people (Newspaper, Magazine, even commercial-WebLog folks) should be worrying about this. Maybe they need to work together on a bigger way to support RSS.
