Access Intelligence

An email list for national security people, but based on non-classified information (Open Source Intelligence). The idea is that non-classified material can be distributed wider/faster, making it more valuable than classified sources. James Fallows: Within the Pentagon, G I Wilson told me, reports that were posted on AI have been stamped with classified markings and used in briefings. An old trick of John Boyd's, G I Wilson said, was to get data into circulation by leaving it in "the head."

It's run by volunteers.

It's either been killed or gone into hiding. I had to get its description page from the Wayback Machine, and the email I sent to request membership (I figured I'd get rejected, but might learn something in the process) was rejected.

Board members include: Dorothy Denning, William Feinbloom, Richard Forno, Alijandra Mogilner, and Catherine Woytowicz.
