land (Real Estate) which has been in previous use, but is now unused
In US mainly used to describe abandoned industrial land, which may have pollution issues (but not bad enough to be a Super Fund site). In other countries, applied more broadly.

There was a Shopping Mall, Now it's all covered with flowers... This was a discount store, Now it's turned into a cornfield...
